Tensile testing of butt fusion and electrofusion joints

Tensile testing is a requirement of the water industry specification WIS, which states that the frequency and type of inspection by the installer shall be agreed with the client at the commencement of each contract, including evaluation of site joints, both electrofusion and butt fusion. The water industry requires that no butt fusion or electrofusion joint fails in a brittle manner. We have conducted over 100 tensile tests so far this year.

Formal analysis is a critical part of Type 2 hydrostatic pressure testing, ensuring recorded test data is accurately assessed and interpreted in accordance with the applicable standards and testing procedures.
